We had breakfast at the Storyteller's Cafe downstairs. It was a character breakfast with Chip and Dale, Koda, Kenai and Meeko. As usual, it was good food. After breakfast we headed over to California Adventure; the other Disney park. As you can tell by the name it is themed after California. It has things to remind you of California everywhere. As soon as you get into the front gates there is a huge replica of the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. I know, you may be thinking, "what does California stuff have to do with Disney?" Well, I am not sure about that one either but they pulled it off. It was California themed but it still had that Disney flavor to it.
Our first stop was a ride called California Soaring. It is a simulator you sit in and you take a ride over California as if you were in a hand glider. It was really neat and one of the highlights of our trip. You soar over places like the Redwood Forest (you can smell the pine trees), Pebble Beach golf course (almost got hit by a ball), the orange groves (smell the oranges) and others. The last stop was a fly over of Disneyland at night. THAT was cool. Marina loved it. And if you know Marina at all you know she does not like rides like that. So, we were impressed.
After that they rode the Zephyr, a rocket/swing type ride. Then Lisa and Jantzen rode a little roller coaster called Mulholland Madness (are you getting the California theme yet) while Marina and I shopped. After that Jantzen and Lisa hit the big coaster, the California Screamin'. It is the one that goes upside down in the Mickey Head. You can see it from our balcony. It is like the Rockin' Roller Coaster at MGM Studio; it takes you from 0-60mph in about 2 seconds. Jantzen then rode the MailiBoomer. You sit in a seat and it shoots you straight up 10 stories and drops you back down. Then they rode the Orange Stinger and the Jumpin' Jelly Fish.
We had lunch at Ariel's Grotto; a character meal with Mickey, Minnie, Max, Goofy, , Pluto, Chip, Dale and Donald all in their sailor suits. Jantzen even got in the Conga line with them.
After lunch we saw an Aladdin show that was awesome. One of Marina's favorites. After the show Jantz and I rode Tower of Terror; Jantzen's all time favorite.
We had a busy day so we went back to the room for a couple hours and then came back for the Pixar Block Party Bash. It is a parade of all the Pixar characters that they do to close out the day at California Adventure (they close at 6pm). It was really neat. It started off with the Green Army Men from Toy Story getting everybody ready. Then characters from Monsters, Inc, Toy Story and A Bug's Life. No Finding Nemo for some reason. I guess because they are fish. Anyway, it was fun. A lot of audience participation. The kids even got out in the street and danced. Well, Jantz did. Marina felt embarrassed.
After the Block Party we walked to Downtown Disney and had dinner at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen. It was very good. We then shopped a little at Downtown Disney before heading back to the room. We had a big day. It was great.
