Well here it is; our last day. It was bound to be a long one. We were leaving the beautiful sights of Colorado and were heading for the plains of Kansas. Lisa and the kids had breakfast at the hotel while I packed up the van. We left about 6am and were hopefully gonna make it into Lamar before 10pm. It was a pretty boring drive like I expected. Not as boring as I-70 through Kansas but pretty close. We stopped at Lamar, Colorado to snap a picture and get some gas. The only other highlight was driving through the feed farms and giving my nostrils a workout. Man, that was nasty.

We stopped in Dodge City and got some lunch at the Freighthouse. A neat, little place by the train tracks that had been redone after a fire. After lunch we went looking for Boot Hill and the old part of Dodge City Lisa remembered. We found it but it wasn't as "accessible" as it was years ago. There were only 2 shops open, the rest were just tourist places. It cost $8 to get in so we didn't think it was worth that.

We drove on through Kansas getting closer and closer to home. We stopped in Independence for dinner at Uncle Jack's downtown. It was a nice place with good food. While we were in Independence it had rained hard.

We were on the last leg of our 11 day, 10 state, 3800 mile journey. I had not had the radio on the whole trip but was getting pretty bored (and tired) the remaining 100 miles so I had to turn on the radio. It kept me awake as we arrived in Lamar about 10pm. It was sad to know our vacation was over but was glad to see we had arrived safely back home.
