We had an 8:20am flight out of Kansas City so we had to leave Lamar by 5:00am. The kids still didn't know we were going to WDW; they still thought we were going to KC to spend the weekend before their birthday. By the time we pulled up to the airport they had figured that we were NOT staying in Kansas City. I don't think it sunk in that we were going to Orlando until we actually go there (they were still half asleep).
We got in Orlando, picked up the rental van and headed to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We had room 5548 and Darla and Gerald had room 5553; just across from us. We both had Savannah views. We saw mostly birds and some Ankole cattle while D & G's view had some Giraffe and Zebras. Our rooms were great. We had a queen sized bed, daybed and bunkbeds while D & G had 2 queen sized beds. The rooms were, of course, all decked out with an African motif. There was even a mosquito net over our bed.
Thirty minutes after we checked in Jantzen lost a tooth. He had been working on it for a week.
After we settled in we headed over to the Magic Kingdom. We rode Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain and The Transit Authority.
It had been a long day so we grabbed a quick supper at Cosmic Ray's and then headed back to the
Lodge.
